Triple Concerto 56
Shrink-wrapped
Iconic French cellist, Anne Gastinel, has chosen for her next recording project one of the most exciting works in the history of music: Beethoven's Triple Concerto. The work brings together three soloists in a single work that sits somewhere between chamber music, concerto and symphony... bringing to life a particularly vibrant approach to musical exchange. The 'Triple' is a flagship, multidimensional work, whose romantic impetus still resonates today. From her long-term musical collaborator, Nicholas Angelich, to the great conductor, Paavo Järvi, via more recent 'love at first sight' musical encounters with Gil Shaham and Andreas Ottensamer, Anne Gastinel is surrounded by a wish-list of musical collaborators for this all-Beethoven programme. In addition, the more understated Trio Op.11 for clarinet, cello and piano, provides a touching complement to the monumental concerto. In both works, each performer is energised and driven by the ultimate search for balance, breath and musical harmony, particularly Anne Gastinel, whose cello provides the pitch and impetus for each phase of the 'Triple'.
