Camille Henrot
The result of two exhibitions in Paris, this splendid overview covers Camille Henrots oeuvre between 2005-2013. From early video work to a more recent fascination with the other and elsewhere in terms of both geography and sexuality, Henrot imparts an acute sense of historical dislocation in her work, examining non-Western subjects and borrowings through the lens of polished cosmopolitanism and representational paradoxes. Especially her flower sculptures relay the tension and self-awareness of ephemerality versus a works alleged eternal destiny. Richly illustrated, with texts by Cecilia Alemani and Anna Watkins Fisher, plus a conversation with Mathieu Copeland.
