The Cooper-Atkins 470-0-8 mini digital dual-range infrared thermometer is used for noncontact temperature measurement when monitoring surface temperatures of food products and food service equipment. It measures temperature from -27 to +428 degrees F (-33 to +220 degrees C), with an accuracy of + or - 3.6 degrees F (+ or - 2 degrees C). It has a 1:1 infrared distance-to-spot ratio for measuring temperature. The Minimum/Maximum temperature memory function stores high and low readings, and it automatically holds a temperature reading for 15 seconds. The unit operates on a single CR2032 lithium battery, and turns off automatically after 15 seconds of non-use to conserve battery life. Digital infrared thermometers measure the temperature of surfaces from a distance. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Infrared (IR) thermometers work by focusing the infrared radiation emitted by a surface onto a detector called a thermopile. The thermopile turns the heat into electricity, which is measured and converted to a temperature reading. The reading is then displayed on an LCD display.
