Clark Terry Quintet: Copenhagen 1985 / Shorty Rogers and His Giants: 1962
NTSC/Region 0. DVD featuring separate live performances by two of Jazz's best trumpet/flugelhorn players: Clarke Terry (from 1985) and Shorty Rogers (from 1962). Clark Terry was the star trumpeter for the orchestras of such illustrious figures as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Quincy Jones and Charlie Barnet. This DVD showcases him in a quartet format, playing in Copenhagen with the excellent bebop pianist Duke Jordan, who gained fame as the composer of the standard "Jordu" and as the pianist of some of the best Charlie Parker recordings of the late '40s. Terry alternates between trumpet and flugelhorn on this 1985 concert. Shorty Rogers also alternates between these instruments on the two TV shows presented on the second half of this DVD. The first one features Rogers in the company of Gary LeFebvre, Lou Levy, a 27-year-old Gary Peacock and Larry Bunker. Impro-Jazz. 2008.
