Hits of 25: Yes Sir That's My Baby
'Yes Sir, That's My Baby!', Gene Austin's Number One hit, provides the appropriate title for Hits Of '25, the sixth release of ten that will make up The Roaring Twenties. In 1925 the carefree spirit of the jazz age was still uppermost, reflected in music of happy hedonism and summed up by the 25 tracks carefully chosen for this volume. Here are the original hits of the year performed by the original artists. Dance band records still commanded huge sales, with Isham Jones, Paul Whiteman, Ben Bernie and Ben Selvin and others, although they were equaled by such popular solo singers as Eddie Cantor, Al Jolson, Marion Harris, The Happiness Boys and the world's top tenor, John McCormack. Popular too was the great jazz pairing of Bessie Smith with Louis Armstrong in St. Louis Blues.
