Something Has Happened! 1967-1969
On a great value Double CD, Raven presents Something Has Happened! 1967-1969 by one of the most popular and successful American groups of the 1960s PAUL REVERE & THE RAIDERS. Fronted by charismatic lead singer Mark Lindsay, the energetic and prolific Raiders racked up 14 Top 40 US hit singles and made hundreds of television appearances as resident act on ABC-TV's Where the Action Is and Happening '68. Their brash and exuberant hits between 1965 and 1967 ('Steppin' Out', 'Just like Me', 'Kicks', I'm Not Your Stepping Stone', 'Hungry', 'Good Thing', 'Him or Me What's It Gonna Be') were 'bold, unpretentious slices of '60s rock & roll with a defiant, punky edge' All Music Guide. Following their run of hit albums during the mid-60s (compiled on the Raven collection Evolution to Revolution: 5 Classic Albums 1965-1967 RAV-CD-366) this is the continuation of their Columbia Records output. Goin' to Memphis (1968), Something Happening (1968), Hard'N'Heavy (with marshmallow) (1969) and Alias Pink Puzz (1969) are among the best albums issued during the era. Lindsay had taken over the producer's role from Terry Melcher and was steering the Raiders further down the path of pop-psych mixed with sunshine pop and even hard rock elements. The group's run of hit singles during this period comprised 'Peace of Mind', 'Too Much Talk', 'Don't Take it so Hard', 'Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon', 'Cinderella Sunshine' and 'Let Me!' and all are included within. Following the group's inclusion on the essential Nuggets box set and a reassessment of their albums the Raiders have been elevated to their rightful place among the pantheon of America's greatest groups. With 49 songs, 155 minutes of superb audio, 12-page color booklet and detailed liner notes.
