Sprouted Coconut For Planting or Eating
- Truly one of nature's gifts, all forms and all parts of the coconut tree are quite useful. In this stage of the coconut, there is no water. The water has turned into a solid dense nutrition for the coconut seed. Called the coconut apple or coconut embryo, the spongy flesh tastes quite delicious. You have to try it at least once.
- What you get: (1) sprouted coconut. Will have green leaves poking out of the top, and roots out the bottom. coconut is all brown at this stage.
- To eat: Tear open the outside to reveal the round center. This will now look like the coconut you see in grocery stores. The center has a very hard outside. Best opened by a hacksaw or blunt force with a sturdy sharp object. Take extreme care for your safety when opening
- To plant: Cover the coconut halfway in at least 3 gallon pot. Plant in a nutrient-dense soil with good aeration. Fertilize and water regularly. Give it lots of sun. If container planting and growing indoors, remember to re pot as needed.
