Lurking in the dark, Holmes witnesses an unspeakable crime, and when all else fails, he sets out to right it in the only way possible, setting him on his unique path of combating evil in all its forms. *** THE ADVENTURE OF THE DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE. January, 1895. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are summoned to the remote reaches of Scotland by Inspector Lestrade to assist with the murder of a local landowner. Holmes believes the man arrested for the crime to be innocent, but he must identify the true murderer if justice is to be done. In so doing, Holmes unearths the remnants of an ancient tragedy. *** THE ADVENTURE OF THE FATAL FIRE. May, 1897. The survivor of a tragedy which took place two years earlier upon the shores of the Nile River enlists the aid of Sherlock Holmes to determine if the incident was nothing more than a terrible coincidence, or whether foul machinations were to blame. Holmes and Watson interview the other survivors only to learn that each has a different recollection of the events in the Nubian desert. If one of them is lying, what would possibly drive a man to consort with his nation’s enemies? *** THE ADVENTURE OF THE AWAKENED SPIRIT. November, 1900. A troubled widower seeks the assistance of Sherlock Holmes to determine the nature of a supposed haunting of his father-in-law’s London home by his departed wife. What Holmes and Watson find in that terrible attic unsettles them to their very cores, and in the end, Holmes postulates that a spirit has indeed been awakened. *** THE COLD DISH. July, 1907. Sherlock Holmes has been in retirement for many years, and Dr. Watson is also about to sever ties with London. But when a man is murdered in the Tankerville Club, Watson cannot help but inquire into the case. With remote help from Holmes via a series of letters and telegrams, Watson learns that not all is what it seems, and that sometimes a man may serve his punishment years in advance.
