Smudging is a simple ritual to cleanse, balance or purify yourself, a room, your friends, or pets. Smudge sticks were commonly used by the indigenous peoples of North America.

This smudge stick bundle is hand-made with Lavender and desert sage (Artemesia tridenta). The lavender is grown in my garden in Olympia, Washington and the sage is from eastern Washington. Lavender is symbolic for devotion and loyalty. Desert sage is noted for its powerful aromatic and purifying features.

Smudging is a blessing ritual used for many purposes. Light the smudge stick, then blow across the stick to keep it glowing. Once the stick is smoking, pass the bundle over whatever needs cleansing or pass the item through the smoke. If the smudge stick does not stay lit, light a beeswax candle in a fireproof holder and keep the candle nearby to relight the smudge stick when needed. smudge stick can also be used like incense.
