11 Weeks to Serious Leadership: Winning Techniques Taught by the US Marine Corps
Ronald Reagan once said that some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world, but the Marines don’t have that problem. Take that how you’d like, yet it is undeniable the mark the United States Marine Corps has left on America. Such esteem wasn’t built overnight, but on the sweat of Marines fighting in some of the worst battles this world has ever seen. The backbone of this fighting spirit has always had a foundation in solid leadership that has been passed down from generation to generation.
As a former Marine myself, these lessons that were taught to me have become invaluable pieces of wisdom that I always fall back on for guidance. Considering the benefit these leadership principles have given me, I figured why not write a book about what I learned. After all, the Marine Corps isn’t for everyone, but I think the leadership skills that are taught definitely are.
This book is outlined into 11 Weeks of study; each week is going to focus on a specific leadership principle. While each leadership principle is a lesson that is taught routinely to all military members; each chapter goes into further detail. A lot of information was crammed into this book so it may take a few reads to comprehend everything fully.
My recommendation is to give this book a quick read through once, then return weekly to refresh yourself. I’ve written this book in a manner that blends the military and the civilian professions as smoothly as possible. In doing so, anyone can read this book and relate to what is being taught. However, the leadership lessons that are taught in this book are primarily geared towards the civilian workforce. You will not find combat leadership or fire team formations written here. This book’s aim was to take what was taught to me within the Marine Corps and apply it in a civilian setting.
Action is the first foot step towards progress and by purchasing this book, you’re one step ahead of most of the world. It’s very easy to get comfortable and not seek self-improvement, yet people that enjoy this “comfort†are not leaders. Read this book, study it, learn from it and become a serious leader.
