21 of the Best (1971-1983)
When we say the best we mean the best! This CD contains 21 great tracks by Georgia's finest soul singer, Millie Jackson. Chronicling her singing career between 1971 and 1983, 21 Of The Best does not include her raps or monologues (which can't be condensed), beginning with 1971's A Child Of God (It's Hard To Believe) (Spring 119), 21 Of The Best includes 17 songs that made the US R&B charts (8 of them the Top 20) and 6 that crossed over into the US Pop 100 - Ask Me What You Want (No 27), My Man, A Sweet Man (No 42), It Hurts So Good (No 24), How Do You Feel The Morning After (No 77), (If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Not Back In Love By Monday (No 43). The album concludes with the 1983 classic ballad I Feel Like Walking In The Rain (which was her label swansong at Spring Records - she went on to record Act Of War with Elton John as well as scoring fresh hits for the Jive label. She now records for Ichiban). The compilation and archive research on this CD was by Roger Armstrong. Paul Williams tells Millie's story and chronicles her recording career in the 16 page lavishly illustrated CD booklet. The songs themselves were digitally transferred from original analogue master tapes for the best sound possible. As the songs tell it - This Is It! The CD that 'hurts so good!'
