PRECISION ENGINEERING: Engineered with precision, this 5/8" nut has a height of 3/4" with 11 threads per inch and seamlessly integrates with a standard 15/16" external hex drive key. These lock nuts ensure tight, stable assemblies, vital for both industrial applications and home DIY projects, securing everything from machinery to hardware nuts with impeccable precision.
DURABLE MATERIAL: Constructed from high-grade 304 stainless steel or often called as Stainless Steel 18-8, known for its robust composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, our hex lock nut resists corrosion and oxidation effectively. This resilience makes them ideal for any setting, be it with threaded insert, stainless steel bolts and nuts or nylon bolts and nuts, enhancing longevity and reliability across a spectrum of environments.
SECURE FASTENING: The built-in nylon insert provides a tight and secure hold, effectively preventing loosening due to vibrations and ensuring your assemblies remain intact and stable over time. Great for use with nylon bolts and other threaded inserts for stainless steel metal.
EASY INSTALLATION: Our nuts are designed for swift installation using a 15/16" hex socket drive, making them user-friendly for both novices and professionals. They work efficiently with a variety of tools and accessories, including stainless steel trim, hardware assortment kits, and even nylon washers, ensuring quick and effective assembly.
VALUE PACK: Our 10-pack offers substantial value, catering to extensive needs from small bolts and nuts for detailed tasks to bulk requirements in industrial settings. This pack not only supports large-scale operations but also serves as an essential component in stainless steel bolts and nuts kits, providing exceptional quality and cost-effectiveness.
A nyloc nut, also referred to as a nylon-insert lock nut, polymer-insert lock nut, or elastic stop nut, is a kind of locknut. It is a nut with a nylon collar insert that resists turning. The plastic insert is placed at the end of the nut, and its inner diameter (ID) is slightly smaller than the major diameter of the screw. The insert deforms elastically over the threads of the screw, but threads are not cut into the nylon. The nylon insert locks the nut by friction against the screw under the applied radial compressive force. Nyloc nuts retain their locking ability up to 250 °F (121 °C). Authorities disagree on whether nyloc nuts should be reused. For example, Carroll Smith (Carroll Smith's Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners, and Plumbing Handbook) notes that the nylon insert is not damaged by installation and therefore they can be reused many times ,and a Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circular allows nuts to be reused if the prevailing torque is within specification. However, an Air Force Technical Order requires replacement of self-locking nuts in critical areas.
