A FOREST A RIVER and me: off-grid wilderness adventure
Follow the author on his journey to fully experience our raw, natural world away from the complications of modern civilization. This story is about simplicity and his attempts to grasp it, about constructing a small cabin, living off grid, and trying to make do with very little. He confronts solitude, as well as physical, spiritual and philosophical challenges while trying to understand what brought him, what brings us all, to our place in life. Little did he know how such a modest quest into nature would test him and em-battle the beliefs embraced at his very core.
This is a venture into a piece of American wild lands, into a remote lifestyle so many have mastered and so many others fell before. The author connects with the inner wilder self we all possess, and honors the indigenous residents who arrived before him. It’s also an unblinking admission of what occurred as he worked to build a new life and made choices that forever changed him.
This memoir is not a step-by-step on how to create an off-grid wilderness life, though the details included and the challenges confronted present information others may find helpful.
