It was in 1985 that Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winning American composer Julie Ann Giroux (b. 1961) began composing, orchestrating and conducting music for television and films, which came to include North and South, Dynasty and The Colbys, as well as the films Karate Kid II, White Men Cant Jump and Broadcast News. Ms. Giroux is an extremely well-rounded composer, writing works for orchestra (including chorus), chamber and wind ensembles, soloists and brass and woodwind quintets in both serious and commercial formats. She has over seventy published works for concert band.
