Monologues are an important part of establishing yourself as an actor. To be able to show your ability to not only deliver well with regards to your diction, facial expressions, emotions etc, it also shows how well you command a space on your own; which is an integral part of the Director’s vision; and something he/she relies on you as the actor to facilitate dynamically.
This book is for actors who are looking for original pieces to perform. Being original doesn’t just refer to my writing, but means the actor is encouraged to find their own interpretation without influence from previous performances or classically known pieces. This allows the actor to truly dig deep to find that unique ‘something’ that is always sought after. I’m confident that actors applying their own intuition, and risk taking, have an opportunity to create some wonderful reads; and if it lands you a gig I'd love to hear about it!
10 original monologues written professionally for Stage or Screen. Featuring Dramatic and Comedy pieces for male and female actors. Perfect for Auditions, Workshops, Showreels or Competitions! Testimonials: "After endless hours searching for that 'right' monologue I stumbled across a real gem titled 'Director’s Fury' penned by Albert Jamae. I have chosen to perform 'Director’s Fury' at Manchester's Monologue Slam as it is a cracking no nonsense piece and will really grab an audiences attention, as well as this I have now been introduced to a marvellous collection of monologues that I plan use at many castings in the future. For those looking for a monologue that is a little bit different and individual but yet can still hold a good sense of reality, then Jamae is your man!" Leo Flanagan: Actor – Manchester, United Kingdom.
"I have been teaching adults, teenagers, and youngsters 7-10 yrs old, recently for Industry Actors HQ in Brisbane, and have used a great deal of Albert Jamae’s scripts in the workshops. The scripts are mercifully short, relevant and interesting, and most importantly, students relate to the situations. The scripts allow actors to make a variety of choices to enhance their performances. I thoroughly recommend these scripts to all drama teachers, casting people, and of course actors who should have the volumes online and in hard copy waiting for that time when they have to produce a monologue at a moment’s notice!" Sue Manger: Casting Associate – McLeod’s Daughters. Casting Director - The Young Doctors, Restless Years, Bellamy, Sons & Daughters, Richmond Hill and Australia’s Most Wanted.
“This book will be of great value to actors young and old, who are coming up for an audition. Auditions are, for performers, much more daunting than rehearsing and performing. As one who has failed more auditions than he has had hot breakfasts, I wish I’d had more audition guidelines years ago. This book helps fill a big gap." Wayne Anthoney: Drama Tutor –
