Aleluia 1964-66
Repressing. 2008 release of the collection from the Brazilian female vocal quartet, the last truly great undiscovered vocal group of the '60s. Often compared to the Mamas & Papas, Free Design, the Association and Harper's Bizarre, Quarteto Em Cy were born during the Bossa Nova boom instead of the Folk-Rock/Sunshine Pop era. They recorded the seminal album Os Afros Sambas with Vinicius and Baden Powell. They also worked with Joao Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Marcos Valle and others. Centerpiece of this set is the 1965 album they recorded with the male Brazilian vocal group Tama Trio under the auspices of arranger Luiz Eca. It is a masterpiece. El Records.
