The belt starts with dual layers of 14-oz English bridle leather, a strong yet supple class of leather that's vegetable tanned for a soft texture but rigid constitution. Choose rich brown or a deep matte black. To make sure that this belt never loses rigidity, the layers enclose a core of spring steel. Other belt makers employ woven nylon or hard plastic for this purpose, but neither provides the same strength nor lasts as long. Under normal use, the core of this belt will never weaken or warp. Putting the belt together requires one tough breed of thread. We use Tex 270, a military-grade nylon thread. Good luck getting one to fray; reports of stitching coming undone have been almost nonexistent. To cap the belt off, the edge is triple-finished by hand by beveling, burnishing and hand painting. The hardware consists of two stainless steel directional snaps which - once fastened - don't come undone unless you undo them. We also install a stainless steel roller buckle for easy fastening.
