Mick Hucknall one of the greatest British voices of all-time goes it alone for a stunning new solo album-- American Soul, out October 29th. Together with Simply Red, Hucknall has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and has performed to audiences totaling over 10 million across the globe. This hails the beginning of a new chapter for ex-Simply Red front man Hucknall after he called time on the band following their triumphant sell-out, Farewell Tour in December of 2010.
Mick is renowned for his great interpretations of others songs, having already had global hits with "Money's Too Tight To Mention", "If You Don t Know Me By Now" and "You Make Me Feel Brand New". The start of Hucknall's solo career gives him free rein to record, together on one album, his favorites from his own personal journey through the American soul genre, giving an insight into the music that has inspired him throughout his life.
Of how the album came about, Mick says, "It was working with Ron Wood and The Faces, then occasional stints with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman's bands that helped me realize how much I love singing old school R&B. They certainly played a part in inspiring the making of this album."
