Ezra Fisher has known Anna and her family for years, and has even worked with Hiram on occasion. However, like everyone else in their community, he knows that the deceased was a hard man to understand, often lazy and usually neglectful of his promises. When Dathan Yotter goes out of his way to make everyone suspect Anna, he wonders at the manâ€™s motives. Could the pretty widow have had something to do with her husbandâ€™s deathâ€”and if not, why would Dathan try to make it seem so?
