Amish Patience (Book Two - Corbins Creek Amish Romance Series)
What will happen to Rachel when an injury takes her sight?
Rachel is only in her early thirties, but already she feels nearly twice her age with aches, pains, and constant fatigue. Now she knows for sure that she’s expecting again, and knows that her husband—already not thrilled about being a father—will not approve of the unplanned addition. When she wakes up one morning to discover that he’s abandoned her and their three children, she knows that life will never be the same. How could he suddenly choose a woman in town over their precious family, over their eleven years of committed marriage?
Now faced with the prospect of a hard pregnancy and raising three young children alone, Rachel must make some difficult decisions. Almost immediately, well-meaning friends and family members begin to suggest a replacement, but her heart is not in another marriage yet. That is, until she meets a blue-eyed man named Gabriel, who appears just when her heart feels like it will never heal again. However, when an injury robs her of sight, Gabriel is her hero, by her side even when she heads into the world of the Englischers for a new procedure known as an x-ray that could help determine why her vision does not return.
Daniel nodded. “That is good. He may know more about this type of injury.†Daniel patted Rachel’s arm. “I have not had to deal with too many head injuries, I must say. You would be the first, Rachel.â€
“You’ve never seen this happen before?†Rachel sounded frightened.
“Don’t be frightened, my dear. You must stay calm.â€
“You all keep saying that.â€
“It’s what’s best.â€
“It is difficult to be calm when one cannot see...â€
Gabriel has always felt like he’s being left out in the conversation when it comes to marriage, for in his early thirties, he’s still not found the right woman to marry. In an Amish community that values family and often marries very young, he often feels like he’s missing out on life simply because the right woman has not yet come along. When he meets pretty Rachel and her small children, his heart is immediately drawn to them, although he’s afraid to tell anyone for fear of rejection.
Rachel has now lost her sight, and the doctor in their community is not entirely sure that it will return, although there is a chance. He must keep her spirits high, help her keep hope, even when he is afraid too. Soon he realizes that his heart is permanently attached to hers, linked by a love that one doesn’t need eyes to see…
Will Rachel’s impairment keep her from accepting the offer of love from Gabriel?
Can Gabriel love her after her vision is gone or will he leave at the first chance he gets like Eli before him?
