Daniel nodded. â€œThat is good. He may know more about this type of injury.â€ Daniel patted Rachelâ€™s arm. â€œI have not had to deal with too many head injuries, I must say. You would be the first, Rachel.â€

â€œYouâ€™ve never seen this happen before?â€ Rachel sounded frightened.

â€œDonâ€™t be frightened, my dear. You must stay calm.â€

â€œYou all keep saying that.â€

â€œItâ€™s whatâ€™s best.â€

â€œIt is difficult to be calm when one cannot see...â€

Gabriel has always felt like heâ€™s being left out in the conversation when it comes to marriage, for in his early thirties, heâ€™s still not found the right woman to marry. In an Amish community that values family and often marries very young, he often feels like heâ€™s missing out on life simply because the right woman has not yet come along. When he meets pretty Rachel and her small children, his heart is immediately drawn to them, although heâ€™s afraid to tell anyone for fear of rejection.

Rachel has now lost her sight, and the doctor in their community is not entirely sure that it will return, although there is a chance. He must keep her spirits high, help her keep hope, even when he is afraid too. Soon he realizes that his heart is permanently attached to hers, linked by a love that one doesnâ€™t need eyes to seeâ€¦
