And Then You Fly (Crested Butte Cowboys Series Book 4)
A year after the death of her husband, Air Force Captain Zack Fox, Bree realizes she can no longer put off the grieving process she has so desperately tried to avoid. To do so, she has to leave the comfort of the familiar and go off on her own. The only problem, the man on her mind isn’t her husband, it’s cowboy Jace Rice, who last she knew was in love with her sister.
Jace has a habit of falling in love with women who turn around and fall in love with someone else. It happened with Renie Fairchild who married National Saddle Bronc Champion Billy Patterson. It happened again with Blythe Cochran, who was now married to his twin brother, Tucker. There’s another woman who has captured his heart, but she’s in love with someone else too. Although this guy he can’t compete with.
When Bree Fox lost her husband, she turned to Jace for comfort, but in the long run, was he just a warm body keeping her grief at bay? Jace would likely never know how Bree felt about him, her sister was married to his brother. And his brother never wanted to see him again.
Jace’s father sends him to Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch in pursuit of a bucking bull, except no one there knows anything about it. He spends the night in a cabin on the ranch, but can only stay one night. The woman staying in the cabin is gone overnight on a fly-fishing trip with the owner of the ranch. When she returns, Jace will have to relinquish it back to her.
Something is bothering him though; when he arrived at the ranch they told him the woman was on some sort of a sabbatical after losing her husband in the war. It makes him think of Bree, who he hasn’t seen or talked to in months. Was she feeling the same way this woman was? Does she have anyone to soothe her through her tears? Or, is she all alone like this woman is?
Until he resolves his estrangement from his brother, Jace knows he cannot pursue Bree. And even if he manages to get his brother to forgive him, he doubts he is the kind of man who could capture Bree’s heart.
