ArmorLay is designed to enhance the life of a roof system and is ideally suited for use with all asphalt based composite roof shingles, for steep slope roof aplications. It offers a 60-day resistance to UV breakdown and typical weathering conditions. ArmorLay Installation Instructions: -Place a full width piece of ArmorLay parallel to the eave (low) edge of the roof, overhanging the roof edge approximately 3/8". -Unroll the material 2 to 3 feet and position the end of it to the edge of the eave and rake. -Install a few fasteners along the rake edge and roll out the sheet to a manageable length. -Straighten and align the sheet to elminate any wrinkles. -Fasten the sheet using 1" plastic capped fasteners, spaced 9" o.c. at all laps and two staggered rows fastened 12" o.c. in the field, or as per applicable building code. -When using 1" diameter caps, apply so that the head of the cap is tight with the sheet surface, without cutting into the sheet. -Fasten the first course egde to avoid walking or kneeling on the unsecured portion. -Align the next course over the preceding sheet to form a minimum 4" side lap and 8" end lap, or as per applicable building code -Install the succeding sheets using the same instructions above, ensuring the bottom of the second is over the top of the first course so that any water will go over the underlayment. -Stagger the end laps a minimum of 36" (3 feet) from the preceding cource. -Install ArmorLay a minimum of 6" up any vertical wall surfaces. -ArmorLay used in valley areas must be covered with a suitable valley liner. -Flash vent pipes, stacks, chimneys, and penetrations in compliance with applicable building codes. -ArmorLay is recommended to use on 4:12 to 7:12 roof slopes -ArmorLay installed on less than 4:12 should be applied in a double coverage method. (Overlapping each installed course by 24" rather than the normal 4".)
