Though this band features two Crackerbash expatriates, its sound is 100 percent surf. Satan's Pilgrims haven't attempted anything as pretentious as trying to redefine the surf genre or somehow give it a '90s twist. Nope, they go for that authentic sound: twangy guitars (three of 'em!) dripping with reverb, warmed by vintage tube amps that ride the cresting, eminently danceable rhythm section. Satan's Pilgrims mix a good number of shakin' originals with a few covers, creating an album that is a perfect soundtrack for summertime backyard barbecues. --Adem Tepedelen
