Formed in Tacoma, Washington in 1958, The Wailers (although more often credited as The Fabulous Wailers) was Americas first garage band, eventually counting the likes of Jimi Hendrix among their many admirers. This is despite a relatively sparse hit recording career only two singles ever hit the charts (Tall Cool One and Mau Mau, both in 1959), but they played their part in revamping Louie Louie into a regional hit and might have gone on to enjoy national success had their record company been more alert to the songs potential. Instead The Fabulous Wailers had to be content with establishing their reputation with their live abilities, which this album does more than confirm. Also featuring contributions from Rockin Robin Roberts and Gail Harris, it is the groups tour de force.
