Atlas of Mohs Surgery Frozen Sections, Updated Edition
This updated Atlas is a definitive book on skin cancers processed by modern frozen section technology. It represents more than two decades of experience in Mohs micrographic surgery. There are more than 500 color photomicrographs of cancers stained with H & E. In over 95% of the cases, the matching clinical photos, frozen, paraffin sections, and IPOX are derived from the same patient and tumor to provide precise and accurate clinicopathologic correlation at an unprecedented scale. A DVD with more than 700 additional images is included with scanning and zoom magnification capability. The Introduction is by noted Mohs surgeon, teacher, and dermatopathologist Frederick Fish MD. Skin cancers are presented in large scale, 4 by 5-1/2 inch color format, with arrows for easy cancer identification, at 25x to 400x magnification. Eighteen chapters cover premalignant, malignant, benign tumors; aggressive cancers that invade nerve, bone, and cartilage; syndromes; and chemosurgical use of zinc chloride paste. A separate chapter presents the gross and microscopic anatomy of relevant surgical sites, including the eyelid tarsus, canaliculi, and inferior oblique muscle; nasal cartilage and septum; labial anatomy; and parotid gland. The laboratory and special stain chapters cover troubleshooting and staining with toluidine blue, oil red-O, mucicarmine, Mart-1, and Masson trichrome. The cancers covered include the full spectrum of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Other cancers presented are: adenoid cystic carcinoma, atypical fibroxanthoma and MFH, cutaneous angiosarcoma, DFSP, eccrine carcinoma, epitheliod sarcoma, EMPD, microcystic adnexal carcinoma, granular cell tumor, hidradenocarcinoma, Kaposi's, LELCS, liposarcoma, malignant cylindroma, Merkel cell, mucinous carcinoma, pilomatrixcarcinoma, porocarcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma, spiradenocarcinoma, and metastatic tumors.
