Hybrid super-soldier Atticus is terrified of the Horatius Group returning and enslaving his people. With the monstrous Glycons roaming outside the town that was supposed to be their refuge, he’s convinced their true enemy is on their way to snatch their freedom. He doesn’t understand why the hybrids don’t flee the area.
Still, there’s one person that makes him want to stay, Celine, the mayor’s assistant and his destined mate. He’s kept his distance from the woman, convinced that any relationship will only bring pain to them both.
It doesn’t matter how much she calls to his body and heart. He’s determined to resist her, even if it means a lifetime of disappointment.
Celine doesn’t know the secret of the hybrids, but she does know she wants the hunky Atticus. But the man won’t give her the time of day, which hurts, as he’s one of the few men she’s ever truly wanted.
Then again, as the town weirdo who gets vibes from people and has strange nightmares about a mysterious entity, Celine thinks it would be best to keep her distance.
When her nighttime terrors worsen, she’s forced to go to the Azilian cult to seek help. An ambush at the cult’s compound brings Atticus and Celine together.
Forced to flee into the forest, the pair will have to grapple with their scorching hot attraction. No matter how much they want each other, it’s not a good idea to be distracted when a killer monster is hunting them.
