No wasted energy. Traditional tank water heaters must turn on periodically to maintain the stored hot water temperature. The OD50 comes equipped with a cold weather switch on the heat exchanger that will cycle the burners on and off at low input when the temperature of the heat exchanger reaches approximately 38Â°F and leaves the burners on until the temperature of the switch reaches approximately 55Â°F. This protection is only recommended for camping in weather down to 15Â°F.
