BIM Education Program Unit 2 Instructor's Guide
BIM is the process of generating and managing a Building Information Model through the use of three-dimensional, intelligent design information. BIM is driving the commercial construction industry away from a 2D-based process toward a model-based process that encourages across-the-board collaboration from owners, designers, general contractors and all the specialty contractors with the goal of delivering safer, more productive projects on time and within budget with a final building that offers a sustainable environment for its users. The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America’s 30,000 members nationwide are dedicated to advancing the ever-changing agenda of commercial construction contractors, improving jobsite safety, expanding the use of cuttingedge technologies and techniques and strengthening the dialogue between contractors and owners. All these goals are furthered by AGC’s BIM Education Program (BIM EP) and the corresponding Certificate of Management — Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM) credential. BIM Technology is the second of four courses that comprise AGC’s BIM EP. This full-day, facilitator-led course provides participants a complete overview of BIM concepts, terminology and practice as well as an introduction to important uses and concepts to help them understand how BIM is changing the construction process.
