In Chickenland, as in anywhere else on earth, danger lurked. Chicken hawk (Mr. Hawk) loved baby chickens and he had his eyes on Baby Chick. Mr. Rooster and Mrs. Hen, the parents of Baby Chick, warned her of the dangers that were present. They also tried to ensure that she was always safe and in their sphere of protection.
Like any young child, Baby Chick lapsed in her vigilance just as her mother got too engrossed in her feeding to notice that she was straying farther and farther away from her protective presence. When her mother missed her, the ensuing struggle to find her and drive off the enemy is a classic tale of love and concern for the young one.
Any child (and adult too) will enjoy this story of a mother's fight for the safety of her child and her subsequent triumph over seemingly impossible obstacles.
