Using the same effects units and equipment as those used at his famed Black Ark studio in Jamaica, Lee ''Scratch'' Perry has produced a selection of raw, deep, roots rhythms and dubs. Following the contentious closing of his Black Ark studio in 1979, and its eventual burning in 1983, we fast-forward to the present day where Lee worked in London's ''Rolling Lion Studio'' with UK producer Daniel Boyle. For the project, Daniel and Lee amassed original vintage pieces of equipment from Lee's production heyday filling the studio with Grampian and Fisher reverbs, a multitude of tape delays, the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase, reel-to-reel tape machines, old compressors, valve amplifiers, vintage filters, and a large analogue mixing desk. The album is being released on Lee Perry's own Upsetter record label, and is the first Lee Perry Production featuring him back on the controls, to reach the world in many years.
