In the distance future Christy Brinky takes over her father's company. It has branches all on several planets. The first thing she does is fire or demote anyone she thinks was loyal to her father. Some of these people she doesn't even know. One is Eugene Lewis these. He dumped into accounts payable and forgotten. Christy increases the wealth and power of the company but not always in legal ways. She has even mined on protected planets. So far she has been able to cover her crimes up.

Lacey Blake is Eugene's boss and takes every opportunity to harass him. The accountant thinks he is doomed to stay in his cubicle. Then one night he makes a discovery that will allow him to get revenge against Christy and Lacey.
