In 1970 my father typed two copies of his life story. One was for my brother and the other for me. He worked on a card table, using a portable typewriter and white-out to correct typos. He had grown up on the eastside of Manhattan, the son of eastern European emigrants. He became a New York City police officer in 1937. His service years were half way between the present and the Civil War. His story is important for us today, for its historical details and perspective. Times have changed. We have come a long way and learned much. Our technology has skyrocketed. But has human nature changed at all? Something for all of us to consider.
