Grammy nominated Alan Feinberg is a specialist in contemporary classical music and has premiered over 300 works. Feinberg's 'Basically Bull' is the first-ever performance of these works performed on a modern concert grand piano, in this case a Steinway Model D. The music comes from the Elizabethan period (late 16th/early 17th centuries) and essentially represents the earliest virtuoso keyboard works written. The freedom of both technique and tonality in this music is astonishing. It is bold, adventurous music composed 'before the rules were written' in the baroque period.
