Intended as a supplement to private or group lessons, Basics of Keyboard Theory, Level 1 presents basic theory concepts to the beginning music student. This level is to be used with the student who has had approximately one to two years of music lessons, and knows the following: 1. The Names of the treble and bass clef notes, sharps, flats, and naturals. 2. Rhythms in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 time, including values of eighth, quarter, half, dotted half, and whole. 3. The names of the piano keys. 4. Is playing piano literature at the level of the easiest Haydn German Dances, or the easier pieces of Kabalevsky's Opus 39.
