American pianist William Kapell's life was cut short when he died in a plane crash in 1953. But what he was able to do in his short career is impressive. Known for his style and flash as well as his good looks, he his featured in a full CD featuring Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2 as well as short solo piano works by Liszt, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. The works were all recorded between 1945 -1953, with the NBC Symphony, conducted by Vladimir Golschmann playing, on the Beethoven. Two works by Schubert and the Schumann are issued on this CD for the first time. All digitally remastered in 20-bit technology and issued in 1998 by RCA Red Seal. CD times out at 73:32.
