Danish musician Bent Fabricius-Bjerre proves that you don't have to be 21 to stay out late. Now an octogenarian, Bent combines a timeless cool with a club-hopping soundtrack on this standout dance CD that swirls in influences from jazz to R&B. The tracks have the variety and complexity you'd expect from a music industry all-arounder--Mr. Fabric has been a record label founder, composer (of the Grammy-winning "Alley Cat," among others), and TV host, to name a few of his vocations. Yet it maintains a youthful feel, thanks at least in part to a variety of guest performers and producers. Singer Nellie Ettison is a standout on "Just Be There for Me," a poppy ode to enduring love cowritten by Søren Rasted of Aqua. Additional vocalists such as Allan Vegenfeldt and Martin Brygman aren't exactly stars in the U.S., but their performances suggest that Americans should surrender their ears--not to mention their dancing feet--to Denmark without delay. --L.
