Mentored by New Jack superstar Keith Sweat, five-man R&B vocal group Silk emerged from the Atlanta scene in the early '90s with a soulful, sophisticated sound that quickly propelled them to multi-platinum mastery. Blending backgrounds in gospel with a fluent sensuality and intimate delivery, Silk's smooth grooves and stellar harmonies triumphed on their 1992 debut Lose Control. Produced by Sweat and released on his Elektra imprint Keia, the disc spawned the #1 Pop/R&B smash "Freak Me." Three more Elektra albums - Silk ('95), Tonight ('99), and Love Session ('01) - continued their romantic reign, serving up a decade's worth of timeless R&B.
