2014 import reissue on 180-gram vinyl LP. Band leader Greg Dulli originally envisioned "Black Love" as the soundtrack to a film noir movie he was working on. Ultimately, the movie never got made, but he still had a complete album of dark indie rock songs. The album got off to a rocky start as drummer Steve Earle left the band before the studio sessions started in 1995. Paul Buchigani replaced him, and the album was ready for release in 1996. "Honky's Ladder" was the album's hit single, and the record reaped critical acclaim. Still more of a "cult" favorite among fans, the album only peaked at #79 on the Billboard 200 chart. This 2014 reissue was cut on 180-gram vinyl.
