Her assignment is to find the illegitimate son of the wealthy Elizabeth Hawthorne, the heiress of the Five N Dime fortune who was given up for adoption without Elizabethâ€™s knowledge. In a race against time, Bobbi Jo must find him because Elizabeth is dying with only has six months to live, and her only wish is to meet him for the first time to tell him how sorry she is.

Along the way, Bobbi Jo meets Rusty Dawson, a hot looking cowboy whoâ€™s fallen head over heels for this little lady and the feeling is mutual. They have a whirlwind romanceâ€”you know, that love at first sight thing, and just as sheâ€™s about to meet his friends and go to a church supper, who shows up and demands she return home, but Bobbi Joâ€™s mama. When Bobbi Jo refuses, her mother spills the beans to Rusty, who overhears the confrontation. He canâ€™t believe Bobbi Jo has lied to him and he runs in the opposite direction, refusing to answer her calls or texts. In addition to her heartbreak, sheâ€™s exhausted her resources to find the son, Elizabeth is hanging on by a thread, and she finally agrees with her motherâ€”she is a failure.
