You might recall that Campagnolo had 3 generations of their Record 10 speed chain, evolving from a 6.1mm width down to 5.9mm. With the introduction of Record 11 speed, this width now reduces to 5.5mm. Campagnolo calls their Record 11 chain the "Ultra Shift" chain. First and foremost, it delivers what we love from our bikes: silence. Its narrowness means it has less interference from adjacent sprockets and chainrings, which makes it quieter and quicker-shifting than previous generations of Campagnolo chains. The re-shaped Ultra Shift outer links contribute to its quick shifting, and combined with the hollow pins allow it to weigh in at a mere 245g. Plus, a re-formulated outer link material combined with a Ni-PTFE anti-friction treatment give it 20% greater longevity. The new Ultra Link system gives the chain a high retention force to protect you from the consequences of ham-handed shifts (something we've all done when we're beaten up near the end of a hard ride). But please note one critical change due to Ultra Link: The Record 11 chain requires the use of a Campagnolo UT-CN300 chain tool for installation. Yes, this tool is pricey, but the narrowness of the chain necessitates precise installation. Note also that the Record 11 chain is compatible with all Campagnolo 11 speed drivetrains -- Super Record, Record, and ChorusThe actual weight of the Campagnolo Record 11 Chain is 245g.
