A Collection of Christian Poems, Speeches & Skits Written for Easter and Christmas Programs
This collection will enable any church -- no matter how many children it has -- to create church programs that help children experience the true story of Christmas. Celebrate Christmas includes recitations, speeches, and dramas for Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas.
Celebrate Christmas begins with three poems for Thanksgiving that can be said by one or more young children followed by six poems for Christmas. Prayers for Advent and an explanation of some of the names for Jesus round out the end of the book.
Â
What Would You Give Baby Jesus? is a drama specifically designed for production by Sunday school classes during the Advent season. The format is flexible, containing parts suitable for children of many ages, with dialogue sufficient for 32 to 35 characters. If you have fewer children, many of these parts can be combined so one person can play more than one part. Running time is 20 to 30 minutes.
Â
E. Manuel is designed for upper elementary and/or middle school children. While there can be as many as 17 speaking parts, a number of the parts can be combined if you have fewer children. Additional non-speaking parts can be added for children who wish to sing with the carolers. Running time is 30 to 45 minutes.
Â
The Feast of Lights is a candle-lighting service that combines scripture and hymns to tell the Christmas story. Running time is 20 minutes.
Â
Bethlehem is a drama that works well with a large group of upper elementary school students. With a narrator, readers, and possible musical solos, every participant can have a “voice.†Seventeen plus parts. Running time is 30 minutes.
