This backroad mapbook is a comprehensive outdoor recreation guide and atlas for the central area of Alberta, an area of the province with extensive wilderness for outdoor recreation. The area covered extends from the Rocky Mountain foothills east to the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and from Red Deer and Olds in the south to Whitecourt and Lac la Biche in the north. Edmonton is located in approximately the centre of the area covered. The book includes 69 full page, colour recreational GPS-compatible topographical relief maps and inset maps of Edmonton and Red Deer. The maps include backroads, logging roads, trails, parks, and the locations of campsites and outdoor recreational opportunities. The book provides guidebook-type information on backroad adventures, hiking and biking trails, horseback riding and ATVing trails, lake and stream fishing, hunting, paddling, parks, recreational areas, birds and wildlife viewing areas, and skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling opportunities.
