It is surely right to term Niels W. Gade (1817-90) the father of Danish music. He enjoyed a career not only as a composer and educator but also as the conductor of the Gewandhaus Orchestra. His chamber music accounts for four of the almost forty total volumes forming the complete edition of his works, on which this first volume of his complete chamber compositions recorded here are based. The eleven young, ambitious, dedicated and award-winning musicians of the chamber music-specializing Ensemble MidtVest, founded 2002, have all graduated from some of the world's best conservatories.
