This book about â€œFloating Bodiesâ€ is the Third book in this collection which was written with the intention of helping my young grandchildren understand â€œHow great ships made of iron, loaded with large containers, can float while they sink like a stone in the swimming pool?â€
This is a story that takes us back to early times; to the days of the ancient Rome and its wars against the ancient Greek city-states. The story is about the grate scientist Archimedes of Syracuse. One day, while taking a bath, an important discovery made Archimedes very excited. He was so excited that he jumped out from his bath and forgot to put on his clothes. He ran naked along the streets of his city, Syracuse, and shouted all the way home â€œEureka! Eureka!,â€ a word in ancient Greek which means, "I have found it! I have found it!â€ The word, eureka, is still used today by someone making a surprising discovery.
