TEPIN - A Native of South and Central America and the Southwest (especially the Sonora Desert and surrounding area). Also known as "Chile Tepin". A wild form of the Pequin. Medium red, round and or spherical in shape, and measuring about 1/4 inch or less across. Thin fleshed, has a dry and dusty flavor and a searing transient heat. Claimed to be hotter and or equal to Habanero, very good in salsas, soups, stews, and flavored vinegars. Heat Level, 9-10.
