At the age of 24, pianist Khatia Buniatisvili has already achieved an exceptional maturity of interpretation and a distinctive artistic approach that make her playing unmistakable. Buniatishvili's award for Best Chopin Interpretation in the Rubinstein Piano Competition suggested the repertoire for her new album, Chopin. Encompassing five works by Fr‚d‚ric Chopin, this new recording superbly showcases the breadth of her skills and marks Khatia's recording debut as soloist with orchestra with the legendary Orchestre de Paris, conducted by Paavo J„rvi. Included are Sonata No. 2, Op. 35, one of the most consummate works of the post-Beethoven period; the lavish Ballade No. 4 Op. 54, and the technically demanding Piano Concerto No. 2.
