Charley Pride possesses one of the quintessential Country Music voices and remains loved and respected around the world as Country Music's first African-American superstar. A true living legend, he has sold tens of millions of records worldwide with an amazing repertoire of #1 hits. Music City Records is pleased to reissue Christmas In My Home Town, the only full-length Christmas album that Pride has recorded over the course of his career. Originally released in 1970, the entire album and all of the bonus tracks have been fully remastered for this special CD edition. During the fall of 1970, Pride was beginning to hit his stride as one of Country Music's hottest acts and such popularity had called for a holiday album. Produced by the late, legendary Cowboy Jack Clement (a 2013 Country Music Hall Of Fame inductee), Christmas In My Home Town featured a mix of contemporary holiday compositions and seasonal classics that proved to be an instant hit with music fans. The title track was released as a single and became one of the top holiday songs of 1970. The album itself sold briskly enough to chart as a Top-10 bestseller among Christmas albums spanning all music genres and it continued to sell well in subsequent years as Charley's singing career gained further momentum. The hard-to-find bonus tracks are collected from several now-obscure albums that featured other holiday recordings by Charley. Out Of The East was actually recorded during the same studio session as They Stood In Silent Prayer, which makes it a natural addition to the original Christmas In My Home Town repertoire. It was released on a multiple artist holiday LP in 1969. The other bonus tracks, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow and Christmas Without Mary were issued many years later on two other multiple artist holiday music collections.
