Cold River Reckoning

Just four days after a massive power grid failure, The Cold River Indian Reservation outside Portland, Oregon is in the midst of an all-out war--in complete darkness. Throngs of displaced and panicked criminals resembling Hollywood's "undead" have been violently breaching the boundaries of sacred Indian territory, hellbent on destroying its lands and murdering its people--including innocent women and children. But makeshift militia barricades along the river are holding ... for now.

In the midst of the madness, Native-American Police Lieutenant Smokey Kukup, a former Army Ranger fresh off a tour in Afghanistan, races home from guarding enemy lines after hearing this radio transmission from his 10-year-old daughter Laurel (who inherited the Shaman gift of foresight): "Dad, the bad men are here at the house... We're in the woods, going further up into the trees..." But when he arrives home, there is no there, there. His recently-completed log cabin is on fire. And his family is missing.

Meanwhile, Martin Andrews, the upstanding Siyapu (white man) police chief--one of the few white men they dare to trust has extra trouble on his hands: taking advantage of the surrounding chaos, a serial killer has gone to work, violently murdering and systematically dismembering entire families in Cold River. And Andrews has a sneaking suspicion he's met the killer before...

Cold River Renaissance

It's day 8 of "The Event," a week into an apocalyptic fight for survival following a mysterious nationwide blackout, and the Cold River Reservation--a safe haven for innocent men, women, and children--is under siege: from both cannibalistic invaders and a treacherous serial killer. A pack of unhinged criminals has holed up at Kah Nee Ta Resort; they're drinking scotch, admiring their trophies--the heads of the tribal members they've murdered (and in some cases turned into stew)--and plotting a harebrained advance across the river and into the Reservation.



Little do they know, the inhabitants of Cold River--a union of Indian and Siyapu (white) survivors--is armed and ready for them. Under the courageous leadership of Tribal Council Leader Bluefeathers and Tribal Police Lieutenant Smokey Kukup, the battle to take back sacred lands is about to begin.. Meanwhile, the satellites of the National Reconnaissance Office have picked up all the activity on the Reservation. And the Pentagon doesn't want the country to restore order just yet...

Back on the Res, eighty-six-year old elder Martha Coeur d'Alenes knows something... something only she and Laurel, the tribal police lieutenant's precocious 10-year-old daughter--who has inherited the shaman's gift of seer--know. The psychopathic serial killer who has been mercilessly slaughtering entire Indian families, cloaked by the chaos of the blackout, is hiding among them.
