Czech composer Hans KrÃ¡sa wrote the children's opera Brundibar before his World War II incarceration in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. The opera not only became a big hit in the camp, but its theme of good against seemingly insurmountable evil served to reassure the doomed prisoners.
