TEKTON 6580 Automatic Center Punch
This compression spring is made of stainless steel 301, 302, or 304 wire and has an outside diameter (OD) of 3 millimeters and a wire size of 0.5 millimeter. This stainless steel is a general purpose material offering good mechanical properties, with greater corrosion and heat resistance than music wire. The spring has a solid height of 4.25 millimeters. The spring ends are closed (squared), but not ground for efficient transfer of force, and reduced risk of tangling. This spring has a load capacity of 8.67 newtons, and a maximum operating temperature of 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). It has a slightly magnetic plain finish for added corrosion resistance. All dimensions and forces of this slightly magnetic compression spring meet standard DIN (Grade 2).
Compression springs are open-coil helical springs that are used to save space and absorb shock in a variety of applications. They absorb the energy of a force acting upon them by becoming shorter, store that energy while compacted, and expand as they release the energy. These springs are either placed over a rod, or fitted inside a hole, and are found in a wide variety of applications ranging from automotive engines and large stamping presses to major appliances and lawn mowers, medical devices, cell phones, electronics, and sensitive instrumentation devices.
